FAQ

What will my Glass-O-Graph look like?
While every picture is different and the final results can vary based on image quality submitted, here is a good example of what the "average" outcome will be. This illustrates the process by which we create your one-of-a-kind Glass-O-Graph. Keep in mind, the better the image is to begin with, the better the results.

What is the minimum size/resolution needed to get a good result?
Digital photographs at least 2000 x 1500 pixels or the highest resolution obtainable from a minimum 3 mega pixel camera engrave the best. Most digital cameras today easily produce images with the minimum requirements. Images that have been enlarged with software such as Photoshop will not engrave very well. Remember, the higher the “original” resolution of the image is, the better it will turn out when laser etched.

How do I know if my picture meets the minimum requirements?
In Windows, simply move your mouse pointer over the icon of the picture in question. A dialog box will pop up and show you what the pictures’ dimensions are.

What is a pixel?
A pixel is a typographical unit of measure.

What composition makes the best picture?
Not all photographs can be laser etched, or engraved. Photographs that are to be etched with a laser require 'contrast'. In other words, once converted to black and white (the laser does not etch in color) there must be 'visible' difference between colors. Dark colored clothing, seen against a dark colored background may be perfectly obvious in a color photograph, but once converted, the black and white (black etches, white does not) the difference will not be so obvious. A dark blue suit against a dark brown background 'may' result in a head floating in a dark background.
